World of Warcraft – Item Upgrading Item upgrading allows players to increase the gear score of an item up to 700, and then add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded by keeping them in inventory and heading to the kiln. Certain items can be upgraded to increase their stats (like an ideally made breakpoint armour that can be rolled to use in melee PvP) while others like weapons don't change much post upgrade, so they aren't worth upgrading. Weapons Weapons can be upgraded to boost their numeric stats, such as damage to attack, crit chance PvE and PvP damage. Weapons also have a flat bonus that increases their damage per second. Additionally, many weapons have a set bonus that activates when three or more of the same weapon are equipped on a unit. item upgrades could be more than the damage a weapon upgrade alone can cause. The cost of upgrading a weapon is based on the rarity of the weapon and its current level. For instance, a +2 weapon requires two regular Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. This means that the weapon will gain 3% attack damage if it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. The 3% does not mean that the weapon will strike three times less, since it is an absolute number. Rerolling a weapon is possible by pressing the green button within the item menu with the circling arrows. This will roll an item and change its statistics, but it will not reset the weapon's level or tie it to the account status. Armor Adding a few upgrades to your armor can make a huge difference in your ability to endure. Certain sets can offer MASSIVE boosts to poison, curse, fire and magic resistance, which can make it easier to navigate through tough terrain. In general, the more defense you can offer your character, the more health you will receive from each point. So, it's best to upgrade your armor. You can upgrade your armor by visiting one of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four Great Fairy Fountains available in the game, and to unlock each one you have to complete an additional quest involving the Stable Trotters. Once you've completed the main quest and the corresponding fountains, you can talk to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the menu for upgrading armor. The amount of material needed to upgrade each piece of armor is different. In general, you're looking at anything from three to five Red Chuchu Jellies and 10 Rupees for the initial upgrade, and anywhere between five Rubies and ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent upgrade. For instance, the Champion Leathers can be upgraded to +5 defense, allowing you to keep pace with a good-sized group of enemies in most cold climates and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded to +20 defense, granting the protection needed to survive a full on raid with a handful of friends. You can't upgrade your armor in the same way as weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior, you should focus on upgrading your armor for physical power or the power of spells. It is recommended to save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor that you'll still be wearing at the end of the story, for example the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you wear in the final boss fight, the Monter Parts Merchant Mask. You can also get some perks for your armor by presenting the jeweler at Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. It is generally recommended to save these upgrades to the weapon you'll be using to win the game. For instance, the Longsword or Battleaxe. But it's useful to have some upgrades to the armor on your chest and helmets to allow you to sneak around some monsters. Potions Potions are substances in bottles that, when consumed, give the player a temporary status effect. There are five different types of potions, each with particular effects and durations. The upgrade vendors are found in major cities and the capital of each zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are bought with tokens, gold or fragments of rare trinkets. Upgrades are a cost-effective alternative to buying a brand new trinket. A player can upgrade a trinket with just 12 tokens. The new trinket comes with the same level of base as the previous trinket but it also comes with an additional bonus of 1% upgrade. Trinkets can be upgraded when the old ones are not needed, allowing a player to increase their power and worth over time. They can be traded between players, making them an alternative to gold. In general players should make upgrades to their highest priority items first. This means that the most-important slot items for each class are upgraded first then their secondary gear and finally other pieces of equipment they will not replace anytime soon (such as an earring or a cloak). When deciding on which items to upgrade players must also be aware of their class's preferred statistics. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats to a tank player and they want to upgrade their chest, helm and shoulders. After they've become unusable, trinkets can be upgraded to a higher level. The new trinket has an additional 1% bonus. However, a re-upgrade is likely to destroy the old trinket until it is salvaged with the Black Lion Salvage Kit or an alternative salvage tool that is higher-end. This makes upgrading trinkets more expensive than other upgrades, yet is still cheaper than buying an entirely new trinket.
